The story goes like this...
René Luther aka Bob Lima is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music moves between the cinematic and the intimate. His work has appeared in productions such as Sex and the City (HBO) and A Brokedown Melody (Chris Malloy, Jack Johnson), as well as in projects including Deeplab, Superposeidon, and Dusty Pants. For almost three decades, he was the driving force behind the jazzy downtempo collaboration Audio Lotion, which spawned a total of five album releases.
He began composing in the 1980s, when computers, synthesizers, and guitars entered his life. Since then he has developed a voice that blends orchestral writing, electronic landscapes, and contemporary acoustic textures — shifting from delicate to raw, from inward-looking to expansive, always seeking the tunes and sounds that carry the story.
With more than two decades of experience as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, René brings an unusual depth to collaboration. He is attuned to subtext and dramatic undercurrents, while also aware of the importance of a stable working alliance, all of which makes him a robust, cooperative partner for directors and creative teams — present when the path is clear, reliable when it turns uncertain.
The Bob Lima Orchestra is the vessel through which he releases and performs his music: not a fixed ensemble, but a flexible space where orchestral, electronic, and organic sound textures converge into a distinctive cinematic language.
